Outside the Classroom Learning

Involvement in student organizations can provide positive social interaction, community service opportunities and valuable real-world experience.

There are a number of student organizations that may interest students in Environmental Science. You can learn more about these groups and become a member through your MavSync account.


UNO Conservation Society - The UNO Conservation Society brings together students from across campus who are interesting in conservation and wildlife. The meet regularly on campus and schedule evening and weekend outings to hike, enjoy nature, and gain experience related to conservation careers.


UNO Botanical Society - The purpose of this organization is to explore all botanical aspects that include but are not limited to plant research, house plants, biodiversity, horticulture, agriculture, and plant-related activities.
In addition, the organization will provide:
A. New educational opportunities and knowledge
B. Hands-on experience in the UNO Herbarium and greenhouse
C. Networking with other students, instructors, and community members interested in
various botany aspects.


SustainUNO - SustainUNO is an action-oriented student organization focused on improving sustainability practices on campus and educating students, faculty, and staff about sustainability problems and solutions.


Geography Club - The purpose of Geography Club is to promote a community centered on geography, academic achievement, professional development, and networking. We aim to learn about the world and humans' interactions with their environment.


Geology Club - This club is open to all students but is geared towards Geology, Geography, and Environmental science majors. This club will hosts geology themed events throughout the year.
